Sightwitch Released in the Wild—Tour Dates

A Tale of the Witchlands

Sightwitch is an illustrated novella set in the Witchlands and told through Ryber’s journal entries and sketches.

Before Safi and Iseult battled a Bloodwitch…

Before Merik returned from the dead…

Ryber Fortiza was a Sightwitch Sister at a secluded convent, waiting to be called by her goddess into the depths of the mountain. There she would receive the gift of foretelling. But when that call never comes, Ryber finds herself the only Sister without the Sight.

Years pass and Ryber’s misfit pain becomes a dull ache, until one day, Sisters who already possess the Sight are summoned into the mountain, never to return. Soon enough, Ryber is the only Sister left. Now, it is up to her to save her Sisters, though she does not have the Sight—and though she does not know what might await her inside the mountain.

On her journey underground, she encounters a young captain named Kullen Ikray, who has no memory of who he is or how he got there. Together, the two journey ever deeper in search of answers, their road filled with horrors, and what they find at the end of that road will alter the fate of the Witchlands forever.

The wait is over!

Sightwitch is now available for purchase at the following stores and links:

Witchlanders Wednesday–FREE EBOOK

Initiate. Complete.

Last weekend the Witchlanders and Susan gathered for the return of #ClanChat. What’s a Clan Chat? It’s when Susan had initially created the Truthwitch Street Team, as we were once called. There are 6 witch clans in total and during the Clan Chat, Susan randomly chose 10 people per clan to be part of the team. A contest was held and the chosen participants were sorted.

Each year the chat changes. We started with creating the clans, then adding members in the clans, we also had quizzes to sort the audience in their possible clans along with which nation you may be from, which character is most like you and last week was which Witchlands Creature was your Patronus?’

Missed the chat? Don’t fret. Click this link that Sooz put together for you to join in on the fun: Which Witchlands Creature is your Patronus?

Not only do we have fun quizzes, but Susan also hosts giveaways during the chat and shares some amazing news for the fans! We’ll be back on January so keep your eye out for that hashtag! You can follow Susan Dennard on Twitter so you won’t miss the next one.

Have you ever wanted to read The Witchlands series but never had the time or money to do so?

Today’s your lucky day!

Tor is giving an early Christmas present to all bookworms; a FREE eBook of Truthwitch! You read that correctly, folks. For today only, you get the whole eBook for free. What better way to get started with the series? It’s a great read during the holiday break!

➡️ This offer is available until midnight! Click this link for Truthwitch.

That’s not all, once you catch up on the series it’ll be close to Sightwitch’s release date on February 13, 2018. If you missed my previous post, I am hosting a Raffle giveaway for a chance to win 1 of 2 hardcover version of Sightwitch.

In that same link, Susan is still hosting a Raffle giveaway of her own for a chance to win 1 of 5 e-galley! In return, we just ask you to spread the word of Sightwitch in any way that you can 🙂

That’s all for now my fellow Witchlanders! You can visit The Witchlands website for all other quizzes, news and extra facts about this series.

Don’t forget to grab your free eBook, time’s a-tickin’!

Susan Dennard and the Witchlanders call for your aid.

Remember my post about Sightwitch cover reveal and book reveal for the upcoming novella to be released in January? Unfortunately, a snag on the design and production end was found. This was not something they could have known, so now the release date for the book has been pushed back to 3 weeks.

Sightwitch is now released in February 13, 2018

You may think this isn’t that big of a deal, but there’s more to it behind the scenes when it comes to processing the books, the timeline, the bookstores participation, the promotional marketing and the overall publishing.

Here’s where you precious witchlings come in the picture.

A task is given to you from the Witchlanders’ Earthly Heirs and Susan Dennard herself; a hand we need.

Since all promotions and tour dates are nonexistent at the moment and everything that was planned is pushed back for this book due to the setback, we ask you to help us spread the word. That’s all we need.

There are many ways you can spread the word about Sightwitch. You can click the link provided by Susan below, where you can read furthermore as to why this happened and how you can help. Something as simple as adding the book on your TBR list on Goodreads will help, even leaving a review of Truthwitch and or Windwitch!

The link above contains all the information you need, along with the different ways you can help us spread the word. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to leave a comment below or message us about your suggestions. Any contribution is worth something!

The link also has a raffle for a chance to win the e-book of Sightwitch, Sooz is giving away 5 copies of those e-galleys!

While she’s giving away the e-galleys, I’m giving away 2 copies of Sightwitch in hardcover for those who are willing to help us in any way they can. Enter the Raffle below for a chance to win 🙂

I’d say it’s a perfect Valentine’s gift for someone 😉

Thank you so much for all your help in advance, my fellow bookworms. We truly appreciate all your help. If you have any questions or concerns, send me a message on Twitter or leave a comment below.

If you haven’t heard yet, Susan has revealed the project she was working on during the summer; the Sightwitch novella!

This precious novella was supposed to be released before Windwitch, but there were some setbacks and it got pushed behind. With Bloodwitch still on the way and in process, Susan had the spark hit her and the flow kept going. Next thing you know, Sightwitch was born! This book will be about the lovely Ryber Fortiza. We get to go on an adventure where we see her life, how she came to be and how she met her soul—Kullen Ikray.

Before I reveal the cover of the book, you can read the description of the story:

“Before Safi and Iseult battled a Bloodwitch…
Before Merik returned from the dead…

Ryber Fortiza was a Sightwitch Sister at a secluded convent, waiting to be called by her goddess into the depths of the mountain. There she would receive the gift of foretelling. But when that call never comes, Ryber finds herself the only Sister without the Sight.

Years pass and Ryber’s misfit pain becomes a dull ache, until one day, Sisters who already possess the Sight are summoned into the mountain, never to return. Soon, Ryber is the only Sister left. Now, it is up to her to save her Sisters, though she does not have the Sight — and though she does not know what might await her inside the mountain.

On her journey underground, she encounters a young captain named Kullen Ikray, who has no memory of who he is or how he got there. Together, the two travel ever deeper in search of answers, their road filled with horrors, and what they find at the end of that road will alter the fate of the Witchlands forever.”

ARE YOU EXCITED? BECAUSE I’M EXCITED! This novella will rip my soul, especially after knowing what had happened in Truthwitch and Windwitch already.

Now for the cover you have all been waiting for:

Look at that! The scenery, the illustration, the placement of everything and the effects 😍. The photography was designed by the talented Scott Grunando and it was illustrated by Rhys Davies. at first I freaked when I saw the name as I had thought it was my friend who had the greatest honour to design this piece for Sooz. Turns out the last name was slightly different, haha. I cannot wait to have this book, it would look so good with the rest. If they’ll have the UK covers, I wonder how the UK covers will look, both the alternate and seal version!

Susan said she isn’t sure yet as to whether we are also getting a UK version of the book cover but you never know, Witchlanders! Unfortunately, with Sightwitch being published for January 2018, Bloodwitch had to be moved to 2019. Now, this was not Susan’s decision so please don’t throw hate her way. If anything, we should be grateful that we get 2 books in the next two years waiting for us 🙌.

Susan also shared something I have been waiting for, the freaking playlist! She always creates one for each book she writes and I listen to all of them at work when I need to focus or just to distress. Now I have Sightwitch to add on my list and the link is available below for you to access. If you can’t access them, I also took a snippet of her list so you can find them yourselves to add on your tunes.

Sightwitch Playlist on Spotify

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I will! Susan has been busy with events lately and she also has an auction to help aid Puerto Rico from the hurricane. You can win lots of signed first edition books, postcards and posters! You can visit Pub for PR for more information. She also has 2 events coming up soon at Grand Rapids Comic-Con (October 21, 2017) and at Anderson Signing with Erin Bowman (November 7, 2017)!

If you would like to pre-order a copy of Sightwitch, you can click the links below:

One more thing, Susan sends out newsletters every Friday and it often includes goodies for us Mislanders so if for some reason you have not subscribed to her newsletters yet or never knew she had one, fear not! For I have the link for all to join the Misfits & Daydreamers weekly newsletters, the contents vary for readers, gamers, writers, artists, feminists, life and more! This week contained a mini excerpt from Sightwitch so if you want to be able to check that out, I suggest you go ahead and subscribe as you will be able to search all past newsletters for all things Sooz shares for all 😊.

That’s all the updates I have for now, until next time Mislanders!

Susan Dennard Kisses and Tells

In the month of February, Susan Dennard had another live stream Q&A with the amazing Akshaya Raman for Valentine’s Day. This time they spoke about Writing the Kissy Stuff. This stream spoke about how to write the right stuff when it comes to relationships. Whether it would be possible to have a story without using romance as the main focus, or how to write love triangles.

Susan discusses how to write relationship developments and how to write slow burning romance, for those who melt during those moments (guilty of that). She speaks about how she is a fan of ships that do not sail, the unpopular pairing (i.e. Zuko and Katara). Did you also know that Susan loves heartbreak? I mean, it makes sense especially if you read her Something Strange and Deadly series!

She elaborates on love tropes and favourite tropes, now if you know Susan it is impossible not to get nerdy when talking to her ha. From books to shows to films to games, she talks about all the tropes and ships she sailed and continues to sail. A fun fact that we learned during this Q&A was that Susan does not plan her love interests in her books. She lets her characters talk to her and it flows from there when it comes to what happens with them and the story. I am very glad that the possible shipments happened or are happening in The Witchlands series.

Susan recommended to check out Romance Writers of America for those who would love to write a romantic based story. They will have a more in depth advice to guide writers when it comes to creating such stories. Susan though suggests physical separation when it comes to building relationships with the story. This works best when it is a series, if the possible couple ends up together early in the series, physical separation or conflicts will be the best scene to think about. I actually agree with this as an effective advice, I see it happen quite a bit when it comes to series and it does help build not just the relationship but the characters individually as well.

Akshaya had a lot of great questions as always, you are going to need to take some notes for this one guys. The chat discussed many things and YouTube basically told me that I need to calm down with my messaging and disabled me from sending anything, ha. My question was actually brought up and answered and I thank you both for this, you can find that at 46 minutes in the stream.

“Even though romance is not Susan’s main story line, she still writes the cutest just-kiss-each-other-dammit moments” – I said this that night, and do you not agree folks?

Susan said she also is not a long series writer and apologized, but we are getting more than a trilogy for The Witchlands series. I think this may change as time passes 😉 This Q&A was helpful for me and to many others who joined us that night, I hope this also helps you when it comes to writing romantic moments. Keep notes and find a trusted reader that will help you but do not forget that this is your story. You get a say in this as well, and like Susan said “see what makes your heart go boom, boom.”

PS. Susan talks about the Pink Lady in this Q&A and I am sorry, Sooz but I actually vote for her to have a cameo in Sheridan Institute. *cross fingers that this will happen*

If you have not read any of Susan’s series, I suggest you do. I like how different both of them are and how unique they came to be. For those who enjoy necromancers, zombies, knees and magic, I suggest you read the SS&D series. If you enjoy magic, witches, elements, creatures, assassins and friendship, I highly recommend reading The Witchlands series. If both sounds to your liking, then by all means read the hell out of both series and we shall discuss in the comments or my other social media handles.

Don’t Get Winded By This Bounty

I’m starting to lose my touch when making these witty blog titles, ha. It’s been a while since I received any book related mail and this was the perfect way to end my week!

I received these signed book goodies from Susan Dennard from the #Witchlanders Heist:

They’re too gorgeous, I was grinning like a madman as I opened up this package and took photos. It took a while to find a good one that would display their true beauty when in front of you!

The package included the following items:

Windwitch Book Sleeve Poster.

• Windwitch Door hanger with Truthwitch on the other side.

• Windwitch UK on one side and US on the other postcard.

*Addition: A card from Susan with the Air Clan pendant 💕*

I was not expecting the last bit, she’s such a sweetheart. This would be the second pendant I have, I should just get a chain where I can add the two in one to have as a charm bracelet. I was ecstatic to see this package when I got home. I’m ever so grateful to be part of the Witchlands family, words cannot express how much this Street Team has done for me and the other clans.

It’s been quite a journey, and I’m truly proud of Sooz. We Witchlanders will continue to cheer you on and lend a helping hand whenever you need it. Cheers to another Bestseller and to another book to come! Huzzah!

Don’t forget, you can order both Truthwitch and Windwitch at any bookstore or the website: The Witchlands.

Windwitch Review — 4.5 out of 5

“It was time to make amends. Time to bring justice to the wronged. Time to bring punishment to the wicked.”

This book was a great read, I did not expect certain things that had happened. I was seriously trying to guess the whole time, but Susan just blew my mind! I was happy to read about our faves from Truthwitch but I was also quite glad we got to meet new characters.

The character developments in this book were well written. It was a great way to learn more about each character, I love how the POV per character really came together in the end. I got to know Vaness, why she is the way she is. We find out a lot of things about Merik, things he didn’t even know about himself. Then there is Aeduan, the lone wolf; ever the mysterious mercenary that is slowly learning to care for others. Iseult, the Threadwitch who learned her true powers. This woman still has a lot to learn about her true potential, she is stronger than we all thought she was. Then there’s Safi, the stubborn and aggressive character that learned to befriend her enemies and to take her ground without others telling her what to do. Using what she learned from her family and friends as her guide instead.

We meet new characters that I grew fond of and some that I despised. We also got to see someone familiar that pretty much had me in tears from Truthwitch. This, I did not see coming. I freaked when this moment came to be. I was confused at first, had to reread that a couple of times until it finally sunk in. Cam is one of the characters that I grew fond of, Linday can suck the “Shadowman” because I despise him. Then there’s also Stix, this woman…I need to know more about her!! Then there are the creatures that had my jaw dropping! You would think the sea dragons were it, hell no.

Owl or Little Sister, which ever name you preferred to call her, had me scratching my head while my jaw dropped. She is too freaking powerful and she is a child, imagine when she is older?? Heavens, the things she could do. She is bound to the freaking mountain bat, which I found out is my patronus in the Witchlands by the way. All thanks to Susan’s #ClanChat!

If I could tame one of these beasts or if I was bound to them, that’d be amazing. I am glad that Iz and Aeudan decided to stick together. Esme’s character though is crazy. I still have not decided whether I despised her or not but she is quite intriguing. I want to know more about her, the powers and how she does things. It was cool that we were told how she Cleaved people, quite surprised that she did not pop up when Iz Cleaved. I was internally screaming when she Cleaved the Firewitch, because I did not think she would cave to the power. Not until it came to Safi’s safety anyways.

Then there were the Hell-Bards, I want to know who took their powers and why. I do not think it is Aeduan’s dad, but if it was then does that means he can control all their powers like an avatar with all elements?? If so, that would be one big boss to defeat in the final round. It is curious as to why Aeudan still serves his father when it seems like they had a bad past together. His past is slowing revealed and I cannot wait to know it all.

I love how the song that Merik and Aeduan kept singing in their head related to their character development. How it also showed a few teasers as I would like to call it of their past. The flashbacks that are key to these characters’ growth, but ones we cannot know yet until the right moment. I enjoyed reading about Merik, how he thinks and how he is. This was a great POV for his character and I quite like the transition between POVs within the story. How it really pans out as a scene from a film. Not sure if I am making any sense about that, ha.

One of the greatest things about this book and well the  series so far, is the fact that you keep guessing. You would think you know what happens next and you think you know who the villain is, yet you find out that you were wrong in the end. Got my head shaking with this one, folks. I cannot wait for Bloodwitch. Overall, this book was a great read and I highly recommend it for all magic, witches, beasts, creatures, mercenary, slow-burning romance, adventure and action lovers. Honest word!

The Truthwitch Set Me Free

Came home to find two books, one I have been waiting for since the day I knew it was going to be published. The other will be the next post after this one 😂. Now behold the beauty that lies before you…

The cover is just gorgeous, I am so glad that the seal and the title are embossed. It really brings the book to perfection! I love the way the typeface of the title is entwined, almost seems like Safi with Iseult’s Threads all around it. Do not even get me started on the map, it is just insanely detailed. Sooz is cray when it came to world building, the amount of research, drafts and story that went behind all of this is just insane! Does it not look like an actual map that exists in this world??

I cannot even begin to process how insane what you are about to see next is:

The #Witchlanders names are all in this version of the book! I was shaking and teary-eyed that I could not even take a proper photo of these pages. Susan truly needn’t do this yet she and Tor took the extra effort, as if everything she was doing for me and for all of us have not been enough as it is already 😭.

Lastly that is the back cover of the book, it really brings the book together as a whole with this theme! If I had to choose, I think this cover and the German covers are my favourite! Which ones are yours? 😄 If you did not see my post about those two Truthwitch covers you can click here.

Have you read this series? If not, you should really take a gander. It’s filled with magic, friendship, agonizing slow romance, witches and more! You can read my review here, be warned it is filled with spoilers 🤗.

Till next time, my fellow bookworms!
